FEIJOA!

Beautiful, Evergreen Shrub With Striking Flowers & Delicious Fruit!

Feijoa

Hardy to 5° F or below, this unique Brazilian native is a great addition to Pacific Northwest gardens and other regions with mild winters.  New Zealand breeders saw the potential in this plant and have worked for many years to create superior varieties. We are pleased to offer some of their best selections.

Feijoas, also known as Pineapple Guava, is a medium to large, dense, evergreen shrub.  Disease and pest free in our region, it is easy to grow and has striking flowers with sweet edible, pink petals.  Blooming late in the spring, the flowers are followed by light green fruit with sweet and flavorful, light amber flesh.  Great for fresh eating and preserves, the fruit ripens in late fall in our region.

Feijoa fruit is very popular in New Zealand and we offer the best early ripening introductions from two dedicated and talented breeders, Roy Hart and Nigel Ritson.  Grown and tested here at Northwoods Nursery, their varieties feature very large, sweet and exceptionally flavorful fruit.  We also offer other early ripening selections, all of which have been grown for several years and enjoyed for their abundant crops of high quality, tasty fruit.
